Mid Year Book Tag

I may, kind of, be in a slump but, fortunately, I am ahead of my Goodreads challenge. I don’t usually do tags but I felt like my blogging slump is taking too much control and I should do something about it. Without further ado here we go:

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2016?

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I read it back in April and I still think about it, Kaz is always on my mind. Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper, and Waylan aren’t far behind. Not only did I enjoy the multiple perspectives, I also loved the way the story was told. The team’s dynamic was so much fun to read; their interactions never failed to amuse me. I WILL FOREVER LOVE SIX OF CROWS.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2016?

Memories of Ash by Intisar Khanani is definitely my favourite sequel of this year so far. This high fantasy is nothing like I’ve read before. Intisar Khanani’s writing is remarkable; she kept me on the edge of my seat, fully immersed in the story, without a care of what was going around me. She has the perfect mixture of plot, world building, and character development. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson is close behind.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?

And I Darken by Kiersten White. Ever since I’ve found out about this I’ve wanted it. And now that it’s out, it shouldn’t be so hard to get…but it is (stupid self-imposed book ban). Just a few more days and I shall get my hands on this beauty.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

This is really hard, so many books I’m anticipating are releasing soon. How am I supposed to pick one? HOW?…. How? How? How? I’m just going to list them all: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, Replica by Lauren Oliver, Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, Someone Like You by Lauren Layne, The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid, Beard Science by Penny Reid, The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson, and so many more.

5. Biggest disappointment?
   

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, I wouldn’t really call it the biggest disappointment but I can’t find anything else I was excited about. I just had too many expectations and while I did end up enjoying it I had built it too much in my head.

6. Biggest surprise?

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata. My friend recommended it and since our tastes coincide I decided to give it a go. I could not put the book down, I was that engrossed with it. I re-read it a few weeks back.

7. Favourite new author? (Debut or new to you)


Leigh Bardugo, Intisar Khanani, Eliza Watson, Mariana Zapata, and Zeenat Mahal.

8. Newest fictional crush?

KAZ BREKKER. He owns my heart. ❤

9. Newest favourite character?

Amani from Rebel of the Sands. She is a kickass protagonist; when everything was crumbling she didn’t whine or cry, she took it in her hands to find a solution. I loved how she wasn’t one of those sacrificial lambs who always thought about how the outcome of their decisions would affect others. She was selfish, tough, and somewhat naïve, to watch her grow was truly amazing.

10. Book that made you cry?

None.

11. Book that made you happy?

Flying by the Seat of my Knickers by Eliza Watson. It is one of the cutest books I’ve ever read.

12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year?

I actually haven’t watched many films this year. One day I shall watch Me Before You.

13. Favourite review you’ve written this year? 

I’m really proud of my review for Six of Crows.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year?

Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed. The cover is absolutely gorgeous. *__*

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

A Court of Thorns and Rose/A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury, The Wrath and the Dawn/The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh, The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi, Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.
